Snow Plant (Sarcodes sanguinea)

Snow Plant doesn’t need sun to survive— it doesn’t even contain chlorophyll. All the nutrients this organism needs, it gets from fungi beneath the soil in conifer forests. Its red color is quite the dramatic contrast from the duff of the forest floor.
